Output of Desmodur N raw materials boosted

Bayer MaterialScience has announced a capacity expansion of Desmodur N aliphatic coatings raw materials at its integrated site in Caojing, near Shanghai in China. The plant has increased the capacity of Desmodur N to 27,000t/year to meet the growing demand in Asia, particularly China, in the automotive, general industrial and plastics market. The company has been producing Desmodur N coatings raw materials at Caojing since April 2003 at a facility which had an initial capacity of 11,500t/year. Desmodur N is part of the Desmodur polyisocyanates range of raw materials for the formulation of a variety of polyurethane coatings, adhesives and sealants. It is a solvent-free aliphatic polyisocyanate resin based on hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI).
