Global specialty chemicals producer Rhodia has introduced Rhodiasolv Strip, a new eco-friendly core ingredient especially developed for dichloromethane-free paint stripping solutions.

Based on the eco-friendly solvent Rhodiasolv Iris, Rhodiasolv Strip has now been commercially released throughout the world.

The new product is biodegradable and requires no labelling because it is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-irritant and non-sensitising. It is also classified as non-VOC according to EU legislation (1999/13/EC).

Rhodia has said that the product is compliant with all regulations for paint stripping, such as the latest European legislation coming into force in 2010 (76/769/EEC).

Furthermore, the company added that Rhodiasolv Strip provides flexibility for manufacturers to design high-performance paint stripping formulations aimed at domestic, professional and industrial markets.

It is part of the Rhodiasolv Iris eco-friendly solvent range, already used in numerous

applications including metal and resin cleaning, and  industrial degreasing.
