AkzoNobel Deco division certified UK ‘Top Employer’ for third year in a row

10 February 2015

AkzoNobel Decorative Paints UK has been officially certified as a UK Top Employer for 2015 for the third year in a row. The accolade has been awarded by the Top Employers Institute, the international certification body for employers. It conducts annual, international research recognising leading employers around the world.

AkzoNobel is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals. The Decorative Paints division is the largest business within AkzoNobel in the UK, home to multiple iconic brands including Dulux, Polycell, Cuprinol and Sikkens and employing over 2,200 people including staff at Dulux Decorator Centres across the country.

AkzoNobel Decorative Paints UK was subject to a stringent judging process before being granted certification, which is awarded to companies that are proven to provide excellent employee conditions, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and which strive to continuously optimise employment practices.

To further reinforce the validity of the process, all answers were independently audited, meaning this research has verified AkzoNobel’s outstanding employee conditions and earned them a coveted spot among a choice group of certified Top Employers.

Brian Chapman, HR Director Decorative UK & Ireland and UK One Country (Interim), said: "At AkzoNobel we are committed to the development of our employees so we are delighted that we have been recognised for this with certification as a UK Top Employer for the third year in a row. Creating a high performance culture across the company is key to our future success and so retaining our Top Employer status helps us continue to build pride and passion across the business.”

Eleanor Nickerson, Director of UK Operations for the Top Employers Institute, said: "Optimal employee conditions ensure that people can develop themselves personally and professionally. Our comprehensive research concluded that AkzoNobel provides an outstanding employment environment, and offers a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well thought out, and truly aligned with the culture of their company.”
