Axalta and BD Barcelona celebrate 40th anniversary of iconic designs

Axalta Coating Systems was chosen by BD Barcelona Design, a prestigious international design group, to develop special powder coatings for the 40th Anniversary of the Banco Catalano, an iconic furniture design. Axalta created powder coatings in four Natural Color System (NCS) colours in fine textured finishes to provide a completely new appearance for the Catalano.
To introduce the new, beautiful ‘Catalano 4.0’ Axalta partnered with BD to organise a summer event, held at the BD showroom in Barcelona. The showroom was decorated with five Catalano benches, placed on top of industrial pallets to draw attention to the main attraction. More than 150 people attended the event, primarily architects and designers.
Architects Lluis Clotet and Oscar Tusquets created the Banco Catalano in 1974, shortly after founding their company Barcelona Design.
