BASF has announced the launch of baslac 45 waterborne basecoat refinishing system in China. baslac 45 builds upon the brand’s more than 20 years of success delivering high-performance coating solutions to value-oriented car repair shops around the world.
With the introduction of the new water-based formulation, the baslac 45 basecoat system excels in its ease-of-use, colour matching properties and application performance, providing customers with a trusted, user-friendly and value-for-money solution in this market segment. baslac 45 also significantly reduces harmful emissions released into the atmosphere, which contributes to a safer workplace for bodyshops and a healthier environment for the communities where they operate.
baslac 45 is uniquely designed to ensure easy handling and fast drying. "An increasing number of bodyshops in China are asking for water-based refinishing solutions and we answered that call quickly with baslac 45, arguably the best performing and competitively priced waterborne system in the value-for-money market segment today," said Chris Titmarsh, Vice President, BASF Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions, Asia Pacific. "Market feedback backed-up with technical testing from our laboratories showed baslac 45 to be highly efficient in application, reducing processing times by up to 28% compared to relevant competitors’ products. That means in a typical shop our customers can do up to almost 40% more repairs and can reduce their total costs by repair by more than 25%."
For bodyshops that are using baslac 35 and other solventborne systems, transitioning to baslac 45 is simple – processes and equipment for colour mixing and spray remain unchanged. Colour matching tools for the baslac system are comprehensive and simple to use to help bodyshops quickly achieve outstanding colour results. "We were surprised at how easy it was to switch over to baslac 45 because the products are applied using standard application processes," said Mr Yanjiang Wang, After-Sales Manager, Beijing Ruitong Jiaye Automobile Sales and Service Co., Ltd. "Both BASF and the local baslac dealer (Beijing Qingyuanhe) gave us great support in the transition."
Using standard application processes, blending, spraying and leveling are even easier than before. "baslac is great for processing large volumes of repairs with its easy application and fast processing times," said Mr Qiang Gao, After-Sales Manager, Jin Jintong Automobile Sales and Service Co., Ltd.
The specially-designed portfolio includes all the products – undercoats, topcoats, basecoats and clearcoats – needed to complete a professional repair with outstanding results. With the baslac 45 launch in China, BASF also launched the baslac Chinese language website. Designed with customers in mind, users can easily access product and color information.
