Coval appoints R&D Manager

Coval Technologies has appointed M. Shaik Dawood as its new R&D Manager. Dawood will be tasked with enhancing existing coatings and sealers while directing the development of innovative products aligned with industry and market demands. His responsibilities include overseeing product formulation, testing, production processes, and product efficacy.

“We are thrilled to welcome M. Shaik Dawood to our team,” said Mike Ellsworth, CEO of Coval Technologies. “His vast knowledge, proven track record, and leadership in the field of research and development will be invaluable assets to our company as we continue to innovate and expand.”

Prior to joining Coval, Dawood served as the R&D Department Head and Technical Support leader at PT Propan Raya ICC in Indonesia, managing marine and protective coatings. He also worked in Singapore at Chugoku Marine Paints for twelve years, and at Asia Paints.

Dawood’s academic background includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Bharathidasan University in India, along with a post-graduate diploma in Toxicology from the University of Dublin.

During his 28-year career, Dawood has developed a myriad of coatings products, ranging from primers to speciality coatings, and has expertise in both solvent and water-based formulations for application across numerous substrates.

“My extensive industry experience will be instrumental in enhancing and expanding Coval’s product line,” Dawood said. “I am eager to establish the Coval Singapore Laboratory as a center of excellence for R&D, driving our commitment to innovation on a global scale.”

Outside of work, Dawood is passionate about volunteering with non-profit organisations, particularly those focused on education and assisting the needy.
