Expert speaker line-up announced for the International Antifouling Conference 2023

06 June 2023

The 2nd International Antifouling Conference will host high-level discussions around current and future antifouling technologies for marine biofouling prevention, led by more than thirty expert speakers from the marine antifouling coatings sector, industry and academia.

I-Tech AB, developers of the antifouling biotechnology, Selektope® and the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) have officially announced the wide array of speakers who will share their expertise and lead discussions at the International Antifouling Conference 2023, taking place between September 13-14 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Following the highly successful inaugural gathering held in 2022, the International Antifouling Conference will return in September this year with a line-up of expert speakers that encompasses the best minds from the marine antifouling coatings sector, ship operators and academia.

Keynote speeches will be delivered by representatives from global coatings manufacturer, Jotun; the Florida Institute of Technology; global speciality chemicals business, Arxada; German container ship owner and operator, Hapag Lloyd; and Dutch tanker owner and operator, Stolt Tankers.

Other companies represented in the speaker programme include Hempel, Stena Teknik, Nippon Paint Marine, Chalmers University of Technology, Boero, Safinah Group, Ruhr University Bochum, Hasytec, Université de Toulon, Lanxess, Shin Etsu and the Fraunhofer Institute alongside many others. Technical representatives from the conference organisers, I-Tech and RISE will also deliver insights and lead discussions.

The exploration of novel approaches to biofouling control and the forging of collaborative pathways between antifouling coating developers and their suppliers, and between individual suppliers, is vital for ensuring that antifouling coatings offer the best protection at a time when biofouling risk is intensifying on a global scale.

Antifouling coatings provide the best line of defence against marine biofouling. However, with biofouling pressures growing worldwide due to warming water temperatures, this technology group must continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of marine industries.

The International Antifouling Conference 2023 will once again provide a vital platform for the R&D and regulatory community from the marine coatings sector, end users from marine industries and academia to meet in-person, discuss current challenges and approaches and to explore novel solutions to ensure antifouling coatings are reliable and as high performance as possible.

The International Antifouling Conference 2023 will be held on September 13-14 in the iconic Eriksberg shipyard area in Gothenburg, Sweden. The conference is sponsored by Stena Teknik and Lanxess.
