15 August 2016

Henkel Adhesive Technologies has launched its first comprehensive flagship store on 1688, a leading B2B e-commerce platform and part of the Alibaba Group. On August 10, a business partnership between Henkel and Alibaba was announced at a joint event.

Jeremy Hunter, Greater China President of Henkel remarked: "China is the second largest market for our adhesive technologies business worldwide. Putting customers first, the newly launched flagship store allows us to showcase our comprehensive product portfolio and technology expertise. It better positions Henkel and grants local customers better and fuller access to our products, the end-result of research and innovation.”

Henkel flagship store on 1688 incorporates a competitive product portfolio, with hundreds of products from all Henkel Adhesive Technologies businesses available, including the highly acclaimed brands Loctite, Teroson, Bonderite, Technomelt and Aquence. The store will provide comprehensive solutions for customers covering a range of applications for packaging and consumer goods, transport and metal, general industry, electronics, consumers, craftsmen and building, as well as a customised product line especially for the China market.

E-commerce in China has seen sensational growth in recent years, with online shopping growing not only for consumer sectors but also for B2B commerce. Henkel Adhesive Technologies, which closely monitors megatrends in search of profitable business opportunities, is taking the initiative in delving deeper into the B2B e-commerce market, following the huge success of its consumer-focused online store on Tmall. Additionally, in response to increasing demand for high-quality products among Chinese customers, especially the China small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the Henkel flagship store on the 1688 platform will give them easier access to its best-in-class services and comprehensive solution portfolio to help their businesses to perform better.

With almost three decades’ operation in China, Henkel is committed to speeding up its business development in the local market. In 2013, Dragon Plant, the world’s largest adhesives factory, was established in Shanghai to accelerate the production of adhesives in China, offering local customers with great proximity. As an innovation-driven company, Henkel is active in bringing customized services that respond to real local market needs. Its newly-established Henkel Adhesives Innovation Center draws on leading technologies to formulate energy efficient, innovative and sustainable products, applications and solutions to address the market’s unmet needs.
