Flint Group optimises digital letterpress plates

Flint Group Flexographic Products has further optimised the digital mask (LAMS) of all digital nyloprint printing plates. With this new LAMS, the performance of the printing plates will be significantly strengthened. This product improvement allows the user a considerable enhancement on imaging speed to provide valuable reductions in lasering time – a productivity increase of up to 100% can be achieved.

A step by step process to begin the phasing in of the nyloprint printing plates with the LAMS mask will now commence, with conversion expected to be finalised by the middle of 2014.

Eco-friendly WB inks

UK-based Solar Inks, a specialist supplier of inks for flexographic and screen printing, has launched Earthinks, a range of environmentally friendly water-based flexographic and screen printing inks. Earthinks are made from natural ingredients including soy, starch, sugars, dextrin, tree resin, cellulose and other polysaccharides. Natural waxes are used to replace standard petroleum-based synthetics and natural oils are used to defoam instead of mineral oils. Earthinks are glycol and silicone-free, contain no heavy metals and have near-zero VOC levels.
