PPG has completed a Colorful Communities® project that helped revitalise the Children and Youth Ward of the Beskid Treatment and Rehabilitation Complex, part of the Long-Term Care Hospital in Jaworze, Poland. The project lasted three weeks and involved 30 PPG volunteers, who renovated a rehabilitation room, a therapeutic room with 12 treatment stations, a dining room and 10 patient rooms.

The project was carried out in partnership with the Foundation for the Development of Social Entrepreneurship “Be Together,” based in Cieszyn, Poland. PPG provided support amounting to US$62,000 (250,000 zloty), including 122 gallons (460 litres) of TIKKURILA® Optiva 5 stain-resistant paint by PPG. The volunteers also painted murals depicting the natural world under supervision of local artist Agnieszka Sojka-Swoboda.

The Beskid Treatment and Rehabilitation Complex treats children with nervous system and motor co-ordination dysfunctions. It is one of the largest regional facilities of its type, with more than 90 beds, and helps more than 2,000 patients each year.

“The process of therapy is not easy, but thanks to this renovation it will take place in more pleasant and comfortable conditions. Colourful paintings in the renovated rooms will foster a friendly and joyful atmosphere and make the rehabilitation even more effective,” said Marek Koch, Director of the Beskid Treatment and Rehabilitation Complex. “We are grateful to the employees of PPG in Cieszyn for supporting our young patients and contributing to the development of the entire facility.”

“We are proud of the commitment of our employees at in Cieszyn and the effects of their work – the children’s wards at the hospital in Jaworze are not only more beautiful and full of colours, but above all they will have a positive impact on the better experience of young patients and the entire process of their treatment,” said Joanna Sproncel-Bagrowska, PPG Director, Cieszyn plant.
