PPG recently attended and served as a chief sponsor of the fourth Beautiful China Environment Forum, an environmental protection event organised by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, the China Forum of Environmental Journalists and C-SR.net.
Held in Beijing, the event attracted more than 120 participants including officials from the field of environmental protection, industry experts, executives of related enterprises and journalists. Themed ‘The Green Engine Under the New Normal,’ the forum called for development of sustainable growth models to adapt to the ‘new normal’ in China’s economy. Liu Guozheng, Secretary-General of the China Forum of Environmental Journalists, addressed participants on behalf of the organiser. Both Hou Yunchun, Research Fellow and former Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, President of the China Enterprise Evaluation Association and committee member of the CPPCC and Bie Tao, Director of the Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations, Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, delivered keynote speeches. Representing the business community, Willie Wu, PPG Vice President, industrial coatings, Asia Pacific, shared PPG’s values and goals related to sustainable development and its major businesses and product offerings.
Wu also offered an introduction to the services and solutions of PPG’s industrial coatings business and shared his forecast for trends in the industrial coatings marketplace. Participants shared best practices in areas, such as innovative technologies for environmental protection at the meeting to help promote advanced technologies and responsible sustainable development. In addition, participants attended a panel discussion about establishing sustainable growth engines. "Promoting sustainable development is, and must remain, a joint endeavour for society and the business community,” Wu said. "It has long been integral to PPG’s culture and development strategy and we expect to continue sharing our time-proven sustainable practices with other Chinese and multinational enterprises in a bid to realise the goal of creating a more beautiful China.” As a chief sponsor of the forum, PPG was recognised with the 2015 Beautiful China Environment Forum Special Contribution Award, accepted by PPG General Manager of Corporate and Government Affairs, Asia Pacific, Cathy Yan.
