PPG to highlight several new industrial coatings at FABTECH 2015

09 November 2015

PPG Industries’ industrial coatings business will showcase its entire line of liquid, powder, electrocoat (e-coat) and pretreatment products – and three PPG coatings experts will share their knowledge in continuing-education programs – at FABTECH 2015, November 9-12 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Notably, PPG will feature products added with the acquisition earlier this year of IVC Industrial Coatings, a specialty powder and liquid coating manufacturer.

In addition to trusted products in the ENVIROCRON®, POWERCRON® and SPECTRACRON® families of coatings, PPG will highlight four new products engineered to help global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) meet demands for using lighter-weight metals, accelerating or simplifying production, and achieving environmental compliance without sacrificing corrosion resistance, including:
Envirocron HTE (high-transfer-efficiency) powder coating, which is formulated with an exclusive cross-link polymer that enables it to penetrate and apply evenly to metal parts and product assemblies with recessed cavities; odd shapes; and open, uneven or geometrically-complex surfaces;
PERFORMALOC™ advanced productivity coatings, a new category of cross-linked coatings that use a proprietary combination of low-volatile organic compound (low-VOC) resins to cure fast and hard, eliminating the need for baking or force-drying of metal parts; POWERCRON ADVANTEDGE™ electrocoat, a next-generation high-edge cationic-epoxy product formulated with a proprietary metal-free catalyst that eliminates the need for dibutyl tin and other scarce or restricted heavy metals as a catalyzing agent; and Spectracron polyester urethane (SPU) coating, a mid-gloss black liquid two-component topcoat engineered specifically to maintain and control color and gloss on metal finishes in changing customer coating-application environments.
PPG experts participating in continuing-education presentations include:

· Hugo Cambron, technical service representative, industrial coatings, who will participate in a panel discussion, "Conceptos Basicos de Pintura en Polvo en Espanol” ("Basic Concepts for Painting with Powder Coatings in Spanish”), on Monday, Nov. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Central Time in Room S404A;

· Gary Orosz, application process manager, electrocoat, who will discuss the two types of electrocoating processes – anodic and cathodic – as well as both epoxy- and acrylic-based paints and their use in his presentation "Understanding Electrocoat Materials” on Monday, Nov. 9, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Central Time in Room S404BC; and

· Jim Gezo, platform manager, electrocoat technologies, who will present an interactive seminar on "Troubleshooting for E-Coat Imperfections,” looking at the troubleshooting process and covering tools and tips for eliminating imperfections in electrocoat systems, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 8 to 10 a.m. Central Time in Room S404BC.

IVC Industrial Coatings has brought to PPG its 145 years of experience and expertise in manufacturing specialty powder and liquid coatings, with industry-leading products for applications ranging from metal office furniture and industrial containers to automotive and motorcycle parts, material-handling and storage products, and small appliances and electronics.

As the world’s leading coatings company, PPG offers a comprehensive array of liquid, powder, e-coat and pretreatment products for metal finishing to manufacturers in numerous industries. In addition to providing a broad range of industrial coatings and a full spectrum of color choices, PPG backs its products with industry-leading technical expertise delivered through an international customer support network.

FABTECH is North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event. The 2015 show is expected to attract 40,000 attendees and 1,500 exhibiting companies.
