Q-Lab, a worldwide leader in accelerated weathering equipment and outdoor exposure test services, is pleased to announce that Mr Doug Grossman recently received the prestigious Warren Ketola Memorial Award.
The award is given in memory of Warren Ketola, a pioneer in weathering testing at 3M. Mr Ketola was responsible for many of the early G03 weathering standards currently used throughout the world. Doug received the award during a special reception at the ASTM G03 Committee meeting held January 25 in San Antonio, which was presented by Mrs Judy Ketola and their daughter Dixie.
Mr Grossman received the award due to his groundbreaking work with Warren Ketola and his unequivocal support of ASTM G03 over the past three decades. Their joint efforts paved the way for the committee’s current success. Doug was also the first and most emphatic proponent of the following principle, "The purpose of standards is to convey information to people who don’t already know it. Make things simple and clear.”
Mr Grossman has been involved in the weathering and durability testing field since 1973. He has been a member of Committee G03 since 1986 and served for many years as Chairman of committee D01, on paints and coatings. Doug encourages and supports a team of other Q-Lab employees to actively participate in ASTM, ISO, EN, IEC, SAE, GB and other international standards.
He holds a number of US and international patents in the field of accelerated weathering. Doug has 40+ years of experience in the design and development of durability test chambers including the QUV, the world’s most widely used weathering tester.
Mr Grossman is President of Q-Lab Corporation, a global leader in accelerated weathering testers, corrosion testers, contract testing services and standard test panels for paints. Discover more information on Q-Lab’s affordable and reliable products and services by visiting www.q-lab.com.
