The organiser of the UK’s largest chemical regulatory conference, SafeCom 2016, are happy to announce the agenda has been finalised for its chemical compliance conference, which will be staged at the Eastwood Hall Hotel and Conference Centre, Nottingham, UK on May 11, 2016.
SafeCom is the largest annual chemical regulatory conference held in the UK. The conference prides itself on featuring industry and regulatory experts who present key topics from the world of regulatory compliance. This gives delegates valuable, practical information and advice to assist with creating solutions and planning for regulatory changes over future years. Given the degree and complexity of the changes experienced in the chemical sector, SafeCom conferences are essential for companies involved in any area of the chemical industry.
Speakers secured for this year’s conference include Kevin Pollard, Head of Unit, Dossier Submissions and PIC at the European Chemicals Agency who will be providing information and advice on how to meet the requirements and prepare for the REACH deadline in 2018.
In addition, the speaker line-up includes Dr Robin Foster with an update on GHS and CLP, while Jan Robinson, Director Product Regulations CEPE will be updating delegates on the progress and harmonisation of information for poison centres. Jeff Hart will be joining the delegation, who was formerly Head of the Dangerous Goods Division at the UK Department of Transport, responsible for enacting UK national legislation for the safe transport of dangerous goods. Jeff will give an overview of the shape of the future in this area. Dr Goh Choo Ta is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), National University of Malaysia with ten years’ experience in the field of chemical governance and chemical safety and will be giving an overview of GHS in the ASEAN region. Anna Lennquist is from ChemSec, the International Chemical Secretariat, which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to working towards a toxic free environment. One of their initiatives is the creation of the "SIN” (Substitute it Now) list of substances. This has a growing global recognition and status, particularly in the consumer market, and Anna will be outlining its influence on the emerging chemical legislation.
Other eminent speakers and guests include Mark Selby, a regulatory consultant and trainer, with an industry background in the problems facing manufacturing organisations. Mark will review a collection of ‘hot topics’ commonly discussed on industry forums and helpdesks.
Wayne Smith, Director of Regulatory affairs, British Coatings Federation will explain the ‘bottom up’ approach recommended by industry, and will summarise new concepts and terminology used in generating a SUMI document. Amongst many others, Desmond Waight, Regulatory Consultant, DanGoods Training and Consultancy will detail the practical issues relating to CLP labelling.
