Tikkurila expanded its production network with the opening of a factory in Almaty, Kazakhstan, last month. The factory will produce a limited range of waterborne decorative paints to meet local market needs.
The factory will pilot a novel production concept developed by Tikkurila. Designed to enable the quick launch of production in a new market, the concept typically involves a fairly small and flexible unit focused on the production of a limited range of waterborne products. The risks associated with entering a new market are smaller, thanks to low initial investment costs and low operating costs. The investment totals less than E1M.
