According to a study by the consulting firm Kusumgar, Nerlfi & Growney, the global consumption of radiation-cured coatings, inks and adhesives was 868M lbs in 2012 worth US$4495M. The largest outlet was coatings with 78% of the volume and 58% of the value. Wood and overprints are the leading coating end uses taking nearly 75% volume and 60% value. A variety of plastic applications such as vinyl flooring, consumer electronic housings, automotive headlamp lenses and housings, CDs, etc, took 18% volume and 24% value. Optical fibres and cables were the fourth largest end use. The above four end uses represent 95% volume and 93% value. The Asia Pacific region leads in radcure product consumption.
