SPAB (The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) has joined forced with the Traditional Paint Forum to run a one day event on 3 July 2012: ‘An Introduction to Traditional Paint Technology’ at the headquarters of The National Trust in Wiltshire.
The day will include presentations on limewash, soft distemper, oil-bound water paints, oil paints and some later paints e.g. emulsion, acrylic resin and silicates.
Examples of topics covered include:
• Constituent materials;
• substrate preparation and compatibility;
• application; and
• post-application care.
Speakers are leaders in their field of historic building conservation, and represent the broad membership of the Traditional Paint Forum.
This event is recognised by the IHBC for CPD. Our technical day is likely to meet CPD requirements for those professionally involved in historic buildings; including architects, surveyors, engineers, planners, conservation officers, builders and contractors.
