Omya, a global producer of industrial minerals, has acquired Bublon GmbH, a technology leader in producing lightweight fillers/microspheres using closed cell expanded perlite. Bublon technology is based on the controlled thermal expansion of raw perlite using proprietary state of the art electrical furnaces. The products combine enhanced hermeticity and high mechanical strength with a low carbon footprint.
The acquisition extends Omya’s processing capability for lightweight fillers and adds patented, energy-efficient production processes as well as a unique team of experienced technical experts.
