Nubiola is leading, together with Tekniker, a technological centre based in the Basque Country, Spain, the Nanopigmy project funded by the European Community’s Seventh Framework Program.
Created in 2012, the project has an expected duration of three years and seeks to produce cost-effective and multi-functional ceramic pigments (based on the Ultramarine Blue pigment structure) with more functionalities than colour to give automobile and construction materials (plastics, coatings and concrete) the required functionalities through the use of these nanotechnology-based pigments.
The project has four lines of development to achieve its aim: energy efficiency and population health; energy efficiency and lengthen materials’ lifetime; energy efficiency and reduction of hazardous products use; POP, health and lengthen materials’ lifetime.
